New Moon will feature lots of sparkling, but no Stephenie Meyer

In an interview with Time magazine, Weitz revealed some tidbits about New Moon that you may not know:

• There will be lots of sparkling in the movie.
• Stephenie Meyer will not have a cameo.
• Taylor’s abs are au natural.
• Summit understands that it's Stephenie Meyer's world, and really it's about recreating the experience the reader has, in some kind of faithful manner.
• Kristen is very protective of Taylor.

Posers Beware: Stephenie Meyer clears the air. And deletes her MySpace Page. My puffy heart just deflated.

June 4, 2009

A quick fyi: I am taking down my bloated myspace page. It was a lot of fun while it lasted, and I really miss the early days when I could hang out with people online. Many of you are hilarious and insightful, and I wish it was easier for me to talk to everyone the way I used to.

With the myspace no longer in existence, I can now clearly state that—beside than this website—there is no other outlet where I communicate with people online. I do not have a facebook page, and I have never had one. I don't do twitter. So if you're communicating with someone online that you think is me, it's not.

Stephenie Meyer's muse, Jack Mannequin, would love to be part of New Moon

Jack Mannequin wants to be part of "New Moon."

"I would love to have a song featured in [New Moon"], no question," said Jack's Mannequin frontman Andrew McMahon. "Whether or not I'll go sit down and pen a song with New Moon in mind is maybe a different story."

Stephenie Meyer Biography Available for Pre-Order

From The Twilight Examiner:

Lisa Rondinelli Albert, author of Lois Lowry: The Giver of Stories and Memories (a part of the Authors Teens Love series biographies), is authoring a biographical book Stephenie Meyer: Author of the Twilight Saga, which will be out soon. According to a recent press release,

This biography goes beyond a basic examination of the life and success of Stephenie Meyer. Author Lisa Rondinelli Albert’s research led her to fans who provided early e-mail correspondence with Meyer as well as never-been-seen-before photographs, including one of particular interest—Stephenie’s high school prom photo. Meyer herself had not even seen this photo until it was uncovered by Albert, who was able to put the two prom dates back in touch.

Rumor Control: Emily Browning did NOT turn down Twilight!

Browning is eager to finally tell MTV her side of the "Twilight" tale.

In case you're not familiar with the name, Emily Browning, like Henry Cavill, issho Stephenie Meyer had in her head to play the part of Bella.

"Maybe I should set it straight a little bit, because there are so many rumors flying around," she said. "People are coming up to me and saying, 'Oh, my God. You turned ['Twilight'] down?' and all this horrible stuff!

"What actually happened is that I was asked to audition — not take the part, but to just audition — shortly after 'The Uninvited' had finished filming," the actress said. "And I'm not the type of person who can just work back-to-back. So I was just exhausted, and I was like, 'I'm sorry, but I just can't sign on to a trilogy right now.'

Emily Browning: A Better Bella Swan?
Humbly, she went on to say that she's sure KStew did a billion times better than she would've done...

Official Word: David Slade to Direct Eclipse

I reported earlier that Nikki Finke suggested David Slade as the potential shoe-in to fill the director spot for Eclipse... turns out that speculation was right on:
david slade by a fine hetherington.

From Summit:
David Slade has been hired to direct THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio's TWILIGHT film franchise based on the Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster book series, will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. The announcement was made by Erik Feig, Summit's President of Production.

Meyer stated, "I am thrilled that David Slade will be directing ECLIPSE. He's a visionary filmmaker who has so much to offer this franchise. From the beginning, we've been blessed with wonderful directorial talent for the Twilight Saga, and I'm so happy that ECLIPSE will be carrying on with that tradition."

Twilight Saga Goddess Stephenie Meyer speaks

Queen Stephenie Meyer dispels rumors once and for all:

I am not being sued. No one has contacted me or my publisher to inform either of us that I'm being sued. I never had a roommate named Heidi. There is no professor in the BYU English department named Dr. Peter Benton (though there is a character on ER by that name). And most of all, I began writing Twilight exactly the way I've told people in countless interviews and events for the past six years: I had a cool dream, I wrote it down, writing it down was really fun, so I kept writing until I had a whole book.

The sad thing about this silly situation is that so many legitimate news outlets reported it without doing any research at all to determine if there was any truth to the story. And at least two of these facts are really, really easy to confirm. Particularly, the one about the BYU professor. A simple on-line search can give you that information. Also, a quick call to my publisher would have cleared up the whole lawsuit story. (Kudos to the fansites who did their due diligence and debunked this rumor days ago.)

http://www.buddytv.com/articles/Image/NEWMOON_LOGO_FINAL.jpg

I guess the moral of the story is that—big surprise—you can't believe everything you read on the internet. Seems like it's April Fool's Day every day on-line. So no worries, the filming of New Moon continues uninterrupted. And, to end this on a bright note, the filming of New Moon continues to be awesome. It's all so beautiful! Chris Weitz is brilliant. Kristen, Rob, and Taylor are beyond words. I have gotten choked up more than once on set due to their amazing performances. I can't wait to see it all put together!

Thanks to My Twilight Saga Blog (a new, fantastic blog, btw!) for the tip!

Rumor Control: All is Well in the Land of S.M. and New Moon Production

This article has had Twilighters up in arms:

From ContactMusic.com:
TWILIGHT sequel NEW MOON has been thrown into jeopardy - author STEPHENIE MEYER is facing a plagiarism lawsuit over the vampire franchise, according to reports.
The original 2008 movie - starring Robert Pattinson - was a major international hit and has spawned a follow-up which is currently being shot in Canada. The film franchise is based on the popular book series, written by Meyer.
But production on the second film has reportedly been halted following claims Meyer is facing legal action from her former college roommate, who is said to have accused the writer of basing the novels on her ideas.

Though the article is seemingly legitimate, Twilight Lexicon has cleared up the rumors, and reports to Twilighters worldwide:

Stephenie Meyer Lawsuit Story is bogus

Posted by Twilight_News - 20/04/09 at 09:04 am

It seems that the unsubstantiated story that Stephenie Meyer is being sued and filming on New Moon has halted continues to spread like wildfire on the web. Our inbox is exploding with various readers citing new places the story has cropped up.

Below are the official comments now from both Summit Entertainment and now Little Brown/Hachette:

Official comment from Summit Entertainment regarding the portion of the story as it specifically refers to filming is as follows: “This rumor is certainly NOT true. Please let your readers know.”

Official comment from Stephenie Meyer’s publisher regarding the portion of the story that refers to the lawsuit:

“This story is false.”

The origination of the story on the Max Dan Wiz site has now been removed.

Twilight: It's a Trap

Letters to Twilight presents the trap ALL Twilighters have fallen into. The exception is that some of us *me* tend to be pushers. The more people who are in a Twilight zone with me, the more normal I seem. ;)

Queen Stephenie Graces the New Moon Set

From the Vancouver Sun:

Several dozen students and fans gathered at David Thompson secondary in Vancouver Tuesday hoping a for a glimpse of the stars on the set of Twilight: New Moon.

They were not disappointed.

A few lucky Twilighters saw series author Stephenie Meyer beyond the barricades set up outside the school cafeteria where filming is taking place.

Stephenie-Kristen-Robert by †~*!R!$*~†.
(file footage) :)

A single officer from the Vancouver Police Department is keeping the crowd in line.

Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan, was also seen on set today. Robert Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen, was not in evidence today. (Maybe he was off drinking lattes?)

The halls and cafeteria at David Thompson have been redecorated to resemble the high school at Fork Washington, where the Twilight stories take place. Forks Spartans flags, banner and trophies were brought in to complete the look.

Meet the new owner of Stephenie Meyer's prom dress

Alison from TwiFans rocked Project Book Babe when she walked away, $5500 poorer, but infinitely richer with Stephenie Meyer's famous prom dress:

About three things I was absolutely positive.
First, Stephenie Meyer was going to be in Tempe, AZ at an address I knew.
Second, there was a dress there that I wanted...and it wasn't going to be cheap.
And third, I was intently and tenaciously going to fight for it.

Stephenie was waiting for me at the edge of the stage with the dress. She said, "It's nice to meet you". I said I am Alison. She asked if I was from one of the two warring sites (Twilight Lexicon and Twilight Moms; the story is priceless). I said no I am from Twifans.com and I am a new site and I took both of them out. She laughed and said that was funny. We talked a while more.

I pretended I was walking with Edward down the alley...

But doing it with Stephenie Meyer was almost as good!

Enjoy this short, but priceless video of Meyer leading a group down the alley of the Piazza de' Priori, just as she imagined Edward doing... classic.

Move over Steven King. There's a new chick in town.

Stephenie Meyer has been nominated for Time's 100 most Influential People of 2009. Up against icons such as Oprah and Sarah Palin, Stephenie's vamp series has earned her a place of honor among the highest mucky-mucks in the land.

Vote for Stephenie HERE!

Stephenie Meyer by Lu ♥.

AGE: 35
OCCUPATION: Author
PREVIOUS APPEARANCES ON THE TIME 100: 1

PRO: Her emo-vampire series Twilight is the biggest book franchise since Harry Potter, with four titles locked on the best-seller list. Last fall's Twilight film, meanwhile, earned a No. 1 spot at the box office despite a starless cast.

CON: The Booker! The Nobel! The Pen/Faulkner! These are just some of the many awards her books won't be winning anytime soon.

Meyer adds an Item to the Project Book Babe Online Auction going on NOW!

Hochhalter worked as a children’s book buyer and as a booking agent specializing in setting up school visits for several authors for the past 10 years. Stephenie Meyer considers Hochhalter a friend and mentor, and offered to participate in the fundraiser.

Stephenie mentioned another item being added to the auction today; be sure and check it out:

I'm excited—two things I've been waiting months for finally are available! So I'm off to the store...

Approaching Normal by Blue October

Blue October's new album comes out today, including "My Never" the gorgeous song Justin performed during the Breaking Dawn tour. It still makes me cry. (Other favorites of mine: "Been Down" and "Should Be Loved.")

At last! The conclusion to the Mortal Instruments series is out. Now I can FINALLY talk about what I know. I loved this one (Thanks again to Cassandra for the early peek—you rock)!

Salt Lake School Denies Book Ban, says Stewart

I just happened upon a not-so interesting story from the Salt Lake Tribune... with a hilarious twist.

Seems that parents at Brockbank Junior High are up in arms over the sexual content in Stephenie Meyer's fourth Twilight Saga book, Breaking Dawn:

"Officials at the Magna school purchased copies of the book some time ago, but as of Wednesday hadn't placed them on library shelves. Principal Terri Van Winkle would not say whether the delay stemmed from a parent's complaint about a honeymoon scene in which sex is implied between the central characters Bella and Edward. But Granite School District officials confirm a complaint was voiced.

"Meanwhile, the school has ignored repeated complaints from another parent "appalled" by the "censorship" of a book she says promotes chastity and tolerance.

"Those are values I want my children to be taught," said Kris Jensen of Magna. "My 15-year-old has read the book. I've read the book and there isn't anything inappropriate."

"Granite district spokesman Ben Horsley downplayed the book ban as fiction."

Ok. here's the twist.

The author's name? I kid you not.
