"Marcus" dishes on New Moon and more!

I love the way Stephenie (yes, we are on a first name basis, you know) characterizes Marcus through Bella's eyes in the Saga - always bored - but the latest dish from Christopher Heyerdahl, who will bring Marcus to life on the big screen, is far from boring!

Here's an excerpt on Breaking Dawn from the the actor's SciFiWire.com interview highlighted today on Twilight Treasury:

"Marcus also plays an important role in the fourth Twilight novel, although Heyerdahl hasn't peeked that far ahead yet. "I have left that book alone," he confirms. "I want to leave it until we get closer to the movie. I was talking to Stephenie about it, and she asked if I had read the final book. I said 'Nope, I don't want to read it yet. I want to leave it alone until we get there.' 'Oh, just you wait. You'll love it.' I do know generally what happens, since it is impossible not to find out. And, yes, I've been contracted for the final chapter."

Sounds like Christopher is ready to sink his teeth into the final Volturi stand (pun intended) - and I'm likin' that!

New Moon Casting Checklist

Now that some of the major players have been cast for "New Moon," it's a good time to reflect back on who the cast members will be and look toward the future at what notches are left to check off:

Volturi:
Aro- Michael Sheen
Caius- Jamie Campbell-Bower
Jane- Dakota Fanning
Alec- Jane's counterpart, Alec has the opposite power ; he can virtually erase all sensory experience from his victim. Casting for this may be somewhat tricky, as Alec needs to resemble Jane, aka, Dakota Fanning.
Marcus- The third in the powerful Volturi trio (along with Aro and Caius)
Gianna- Rumored is that Justine Wachsberger will play the part of the Volturi's human secretary; yet to be confirmed.

Werewolves:
Jacob Black- Taylor Lautner
Paul- Alex Meraz
Emily Young- Tinsel Korey
Sam Uley- Chaske Spencer
Quil Ateara- Tyson Houseman
Jared- Bronson Pelletier
Embry Call- Kiowa Gordon
Seth Clearwater-
Leah Clearwater-

I'm most curious to see who is cast as Seth, who *spoiler* ends up befriending Edward in Eclipse.
Be sure to check out the Twilight Examiner for some in-depth commentary of the casting possibilities.

Moving on from Heidi, finally... Caius has been cast!

BBC News reveals that 20 year old newcomer, Jamie Campbell-Bower has been cast as Volturi leader, Caius, in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and he's heading over to begin filming in June.

Jamie also mentions that he knows the casting of the other characters, but is not at liberty to reveal the names, though he does mention that names revolving around fan sites are FALSE.

"I do know who else will be in it - but I can't tell you, unfortunately. "But go online and have a look at the rumours," he said, then added: "They're all false. You're putting me in a terrible situation."

The role of Caius is key to the plot of New Moon. He forms part of the triumvirate leading the Italian based coven of vampires called the Volturi.

Campbell-Bower confessed he was not previously aware of the character: "I hadn't read the books before. But it's a great thing to be a part of, and it did very well last year."

Honor St. Marcus Day- Wear RED on Thursday!

Amanda Bell, from the Twilight Examiner, reminds Twilighters:

In Stephenie Meyer's New Moon, March 19th was a date of some significance - St. Marcus Day, the day when St. Marcus supposedly rid the Italian city of Volterra of all vampires (though secretly allowed for the Volturi vampires to hide out in the city without curiosity).

The town of Volterra teemed with red as Bella and Alice raced through the streets to get to the would-be self-sacrificing Edward Cullen.

In honor of this intricate but important detail to the New Moon novel that we fans would like to see on screen, wear something red this Thursday, March 19.

Show your support for a faithful book-to-film translation of New Moon by Chris Weitz. Fans will remember Edward Cullen gearing up to expose himself while Bella and Alice fight against a sea of garnet and red celebrants on St. Marcus Day, March 19th.
