"Twilight" Rocks the Home DVD World for 2009... is anyone surprised?

"Twilight" has skyrocketed to the year's biggest home-video release of 2009, says Reuters. In its first 8 days, Twilight sold 5.6 million copies, trumping "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa's" 5.3 million copies sold since its release on February 6.

"Twilight" sold 3 million units its first day in stores, according to distributor Summit Entertainment, enough to send it to the top of the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart for the week ended March 22.

Just 3 percent of the film's total unit sales came from Blu-ray Disc, not surprising given the "Twilight's" Blu-ray Disc edition is being sold only at Target Stores and Best Buy until May 5.

The Dish on Who was Where for DVD Release Parties- RPattz and KStew No-Shows

Salt Lake City
Hundreds of moms and daughters flocked to the Riverton Wal-Mart in Salt Lake City where Rachelle Lefevre made an appearance.

Lefevre, who plays the evil vampire Victoria, signed autographs and expressed surprise at the turnout. "This is just unbelievable," Lefevre said. "You get better at handling it, your lip doesn't quiver anymore, but the excitement never, ever goes away."

She said she was "flattered" to be chosen to go to Utah, where "Twilight" author Stephanie Meyer hails from. Fans said they "bitten," a term Twilighters use to refer to their rabid attraction to the books and film. "Every girl wants to find her Edward," said one fan.

New York City
Edi Gathegi was at the Penn Plaza Borders store in New York City. The Borders employees held a scavenger hunt and trivia contest for the nearly 500 fans who made the party.

Los Angeles
Ashley Greene was in the Los Angeles making the rounds and surprising fans. Fans filling the mall screamed like crazy as the party got ready to start and got louder when the crowd learned a cast member was going to be there.

Chicago
Nikki Reed showed up at a Hot Topics store in Chicago. Fans report that she was super sweet. She told fans how much she appreciated every one coming out and how she loved her fans. “She looked like she was about to cry! She was absolutely gorgeous and so thankful for everything!” one fan reported.

Thanks to Moon for not eating dinner and running all over town to ensure we had an amazing night- plus putting the Edward Cullen PillowCase on the bed to welcome me to your home.

Friday at 7pm: Peter Facinelli aka Dr. Cullen attended a free screening of Twilight at Fort Lewis Washington base. Theater attendance was free to all military and their dependents. After the screening, Peter did a Q&A for all attending.

Saturday from 9:30am to 10:30pm: Peter stayed to do autographs and pictures. He did this without lunch or dinner he spent quality time with his fans and there was no limit on how many items you wanted signed. He also took pictures with his fans as well, and Peter canceled his flight tonight due to the overwhelming amount of fans that were in attendance; he refused to leave until all fans were able to have their DVDs signed.

Peter said he was given a choice of coming to a DVD signing in Chicago or Fort Lewis , and he chose Fort Lewis as he wanted to thank soldiers and families for their service. I witnessed Peter thank and shake every soldiers hand that came thru the line I commend peter for his time. He is truly the most classy and giving of any of the cast of the Twilight series. I personally stood in line from 11am to 8pm to get a signature and behind me were probably 100 more fans.

Just in time for your DVD Release Party, here are a few recipes from the Examiner:

Love at First Bite Cupcakes
24 baked cupcakes (bake according to package directions)-Chocolate Cake Mix
24 Nutter-butter (name brand) cookies
Chocolate Frosting
Vanilla Frosting
Tube of chocolate, green, and red decorator’s icing.
Directions: frost cupcakes with the chocolate frosting. Ice the entire Nutter-Butter cookie with white frosting and use decorator’s icing to draw a vampire expression on each cookie. Place vampire cookie in the middle of the cupcake. Makes 24 Love at First Bite Cupcakes.

Eclipse

1 cup black cherry

1 cup of cranberry juice
1 cup ginger ale
splash of pineapple juice

Directions: Mix black cherry, cranberry juice, and ginger ale in a punch bowl, Add a splash of pineapple juice, and serve over ice.

Twilight Run Cocktail

1/2 ounce French vermouth

1/2 ounce Italian vermouth

1 ounce brandy

1/4 ounce Pernod

1/2 teaspoon Curacao

Stir well with ice cubes. Strain into 3-ounce cocktail glass.

Where in the World is Rob... and Deets onTwi-DVD Party Cast Crashers

Lainey Gossip reveals Rob's whereabouts the past few days:

All week Rob Pattinson has been in Vancouver. He arrived via private on Sunday and had more makeup testing to do – something wasn’t quite right last week so they brought him back to tweak. Since the schedule changed, they decided that while he’s in town, they could start training him. Yes ladies. He’s training. He’s sweating. He’s working on that body. Or let that be your fantasy. Am told it’s primarily stunts.

Rob is expected to be out of Vancouver imminently for Twilight DVD promotion.

And speaking of crashing Twilight DVD release parties, looks like you may be in luck.... IF you live in the following cities:

Fear not, Twilighters without DVD plans!

Anyone else get stomach flutters every time the Twilight DVD commercial comes on? I heard Bella's Lullaby crooning through the house last night as I was doing dishes, and I turned to see my favorite Edward/Bella kisses and the reminder to pick up my DVD Saturday. Check. Oh, and another copy arriving on Tuesday. Check.

But, if you haven't pre-ordered, you have no midnight plans at Hot Topic, and still need the movie in time for a big shindig on Saturday night, you're in luck.

MTV reports that in a rare but increasingly-frequent move, “Twilight” is being released on Video On Demand the same day as the DVD streets. TVN Entertainment, the world’s largest television on-demand company, has announced that Twilight fans will immediately be able to access the film in its entirety on VOD without having to leave the comfort of their own homes. TVN serves over 46 million customers, so your chances of having the VOD are pretty darned good.

So basically, if you want to pull a Kellan and stay home in your toasty jammies, all you have to do is click a few buttons on your remote control and you’re good to go.

Twilight Cast Members May Appear at a DVD Release Party Near YOU!

Yes, I, a Twilight Mom, have resorted to scouring teeny bop mags for the latest dish on celebs and their digs like to peruse the latest issues of the New York Post and other important periodicals for Twilight information.

J-14 confirms that cast members will be roaming the U.S. crashing various Twilight DVD Release Parties scattered around the country:

The rumors are true... in the great tradition that the Jonas Brothers kicked off, Summit Entertainment just confirmed that Twilight filmmakers and cast members will be making surprise appearances at selected DVD release parties at midnight on Friday from 10 p.m. to midnight!

So don't miss out on your chance to possible party with Rob Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, and other members of the cast on Friday night! And if they show up in your town and not ours... be sure to take TONS of photos and send 'em over!

It just so happens that my hometown had the largest turnout of fans to attend a single theater showing of the midnight release of Twilight- so the chances of a cast member appearing at the Hot Topic around the corner is not so far-fetched...
